The big question is, why am I doing this? I could go on for days to answer this, but the short story is that I was nominated (or asked) by someone whom I greatly admire and who has fought and survived lymphoma. As a local business owner, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, I’ve tried to make it a practice to include something in my life that is about giving back. Initially, I thought about turning 40 this year and wanted to mark my 40th year milestone by tackling something that would result in a major contribution. I thought about this challenge for quite a while and kept coming back to the real reason I wanted to do this. It’s not about marking a milestone in my life, but really about my friends, my family, my children, and all the people that I know and love and would do anything in my power to keep in my life. I thought, this challenge is not only about giving back, but about giving life. I have seen the huge impact that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has on fighting diseases and supporting the patients and their families, and I could not have chosen a better organization to support. I have two healthy children and am thrilled to invest my energy in finding a cure for the #1 cancer killer of children. Although great strides have been made over the years - thanks to the LLS and the millions of dollars raised - the statistics are still startling, and I feel as though it is our duty to give what we can to save the lives of those we love. I am excited about pulling a team together of family, friends, and colleagues who also want to be part of this challenge and who also have the desire to support this cause.
